Can Pioneer AVIC-Z3 charge the Itouch?

I am considering getting the Z3 but I am told that the unit will not charge Itouch that has higher than version 1.15 because of charging pin changes. I was also told that a Scosche Passport will solve this problem and bring back charging and full function Itouch cababilities via the Z3.

Anyone have any experience and advice with this matter. This may be a deal breaker.
