can i use say 5000rms on 3 subs ( 1500rms per sub) ???

i was just thinking.... i smell smoke... lol

i want to get 2 more sq hdc3 15" subs i have 1 now.

these are rated at 1500 rms but heard it will take more then that. right now i have 1800 plus on it.

but was thinking what if i get 1 big say 5000rmsx1 amp would that work? or no.

sort of. wiring 3 subs will = strange ohm loads. so whatever amp you pic - it must be capable of handling whatever ohm load you end up at AND be capable of puting out your power requirments at that ohm load.

example = three subs that are dual 2 ohm coils can wire to .33 ohms or 1.33 ohms

or three subs that are dual 4 ohms can wire to .67 ohms or 2.67 ohms

ok that makes cents, and did not really think of that and not sure why.

ok then if i used 3 d2 subs at 1.33 ohms then i would pick an amp that would do say 5000rms x1 at 1 ohm. right ? i would get a little less power.

also i really should have asked this in first post.. being these subs are 1500rms and im running 1800 plus at them would say a 5000rms amp be good enough or would a 4000rms be better?

from what i have read that you can always turn them down ( meaning to much amp power. )

im just thinking of different setups for 3 sq hdc3 15" and ya my sub is the d2.

is this for daily or spl? 5,000 watts on three 15's is stupid loud, and if your front stage consists of the equipment in your sig then I would really evaluate what your next move is here. Your system will only sound as good as your weakest link and 5,000 watts on three 15's with some pioneer 4x6"s up front and some 6x9's will sound like assss. just my 2 cents........

o i know. i plan on changing all that crap. my plan is to get my sub stage done then ill get some components for the doors.

i never planed on keeping those 4x6 and 6x9 but they do work great and are loud now.

o sorry this is a daily system. but i like SPL........ but will not compete .

lets put it this why if i don't pop my windshield out its not loud enough . lol...

i say that because my window is not 100% on. these truck are notoreus for the windshields coming loose and leaking. so with 3 subs it should pop out... and no i dont care i have to replace it anyway... lol

5k for 3 of those isnt enough for them honestly. If you just wanting daily then yea its fine. Honestly they are well underrated and POWER HUNGRY. they will take 2500 - 3k daily if you know what your doing
