What's this 3100 mono @ 2 ohm ? Yet, 950 @ 2 ohm ?

44 volts is equivalent to 1000 rms X 2 ohms = 2000 & square root is 44 volts. The alpine amp is 1000 rms so 44 volts is the rms for this amp and it's crazy what 44 volts does to these 2 sundowns in this generic box. I'm actually underpower in at 44 volts. Now I know why sundowns are so popular. These beat so hard that I'm actually cautious while dialing up , feel like something might blow. Putting 55 volts would be 1500 rms which is what is ideal for these subs but then people say that they easily handle much more. These things are gonna tear my van apart , lol . I love my JL's but right now I'm getting why many call them over priced subs.

you might be still undergained if you are using a 0 db test tone

So 1590 rms at 2 ohm is what I am really shooting for them

Why buy two, its useless. Just get the FSD 2600.1 and wire down to half ohm and beef up your electricals. Wire both subs parallel to the amp. Go big or go home. If your box is gonna be on the smaller side, you'll need that much power. Dont even think of getting hifonics, if you do, you'll just start losing out sound quality and spl all at once.

I'm not buying two amps , lol - never crossed my mind - I simply didn't understand but now that You've explained that I need two amps to get that wattage that option is out the window. I do see though that if I wire to 2 ohms I can get 1590 which seems ideal.

You seriously are confused right now man. Go back and read the description properly. IDK where you are getting 1590 watts at 2 ohms.

550 @ 4 ohms

950 @ 2 ohms

1590 @ 1 ohms

When you have two amps strapped its

3100 @ 2 ohms BUT if you wire to a 2 ohm load, each amp will basically see 1 ohm each due to being strapped. the amps will not actually be at 2 ohms.

IF you wire to two ohms you will only see 950 watts. With the fsd 1600, you'll want to wire to half ohm. 0.5 ohms Dont be a fucking pussy about it, the amps will handle it.

.5 ohms, can this be down with 4 gage and a second battery ?

it should be if you've done your big 3 upgrade. I had a current hog of a hifonics 1600 amp with the big 3, and a 2ndary kinetik hc1800 batt and had no problems at half ohm. stock alt. voltages only dropped to 12.9 at the lowest, 13.2V constant. With the DMM, Test your voltages now on the heaviest bass lines and see what your voltage readings are at the amp power and ground terminals.
