I have a alpine mrx-m100 amp and am wondering if I could decently power 2 sundowns SA 12"s with it .

Alpine MRX-M100 Mono subwoofer amplifier — 1,000 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms at Crutchfield.com

When I checked resistance on one sub it read one ohm. They each have their own terminals which I will have to combine with a single channel monoblock. Will this change to 2 ohms when I combine ? It seems to be 1000 rms at 2 ohms and 1900 peak and at 750 rms X 2 = 1500 rms I feel I will push the amp. Think I'll be ok ?

FSD 2600 if you want to push those subs right. They can handle whatever ohm load you will put on them.

Will my 4 gage and second battery suffice ? I'm trying to avoid zero gauge reinstall - I also have 4 gage on alternator power. Amp seems a bit much though, is there something a bit more economical out there ?

amp is not that excessive if you count in box rise and voltage drops, the subs can handle a crazy amount of power daily. If you want something that works with your 4 gauge, get the fsd 1600

Should I be running this amp at 1ohm?

whatever lowest ohm you can wire to. can handle 1 ohm or half ohm if you have the electrical to back it up. aka big 3 upgrade and a not soo old battery.
If I wire the subs to 2 ohms I will only get 950 on this amp. The alpine will give me 1000 at 2 ohms - unless I wire to 1 ohm 1 can get more. Can I get these subs to 1 ohm though ?

wire to 0.5 ohms duh. Its korean board amp, its build like a tank and handles those impedances fine and dandy.

What reliable website has this amp ? I did call alpine to question the capabilities of the MRX-M100 and they actually told it would handle the sundowns at 750 rms each = 1500. Not sure what my next move should be ....

If you have 2 dual 2 ohm subs, each one is wired in parallel to 1 ohm each. Wire the two subs in series and be at 2 ohm total and use the alpine.

That alpine is plenty of power to get them sounding good.

If you get a larger amp you will need to do some more upgrading like 1/0awg wire a second battery or even a high output alternator.

Use the alpine and see how you like it. The sa's get plenty loud off little power
