Can I hit 150 db with an HC RE?

Who said I wasn't talking about you?

The box doesn't necessarly have be huge, and then even bigger to get louder. The larger the box the less power you need, I think we all know this. But if you give a sub like 1500w in a 5cu' box, and you give it 1500w in a 10cu' the chances of you blowing the driver just got a whole lot higher. I have foud out that the less power you use, the larger the enclosure you need and visa versa. Look at some of the comp vehicles...take Scottie Johnson; do you think he has a 67.5cu'? NO. He probably only has like 2.5-3cu' per driver. When I first got my Brahma I went up 2dB by making my box 1cu' smaller and adding more port area.
hell yeah....it's more experimentation than anything....when i built the 7 cube box tuned to 45hz with 100"^2 of port for the HC....i thought i was good to go...yeah...good to go for a whopping 142 on the AC //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif
then when i blew my A and slapped the HC in that box for a 146 i almost had a heart attack...lol....thats when i knew there was more to it than "build a big ole ported box tuned high"...lol

Nice.

To reply to the thread topic - if you have to ask, then you won't be doing it without incredible hard work and a little bit of luck.

But what do I know, I'm only pushing 130's with my 12W7 and about 250W.

The vehicle also makes a big difference. The VA CS2 MECA State Record holder use to run CS4 with 2 13W7s and 2 amps(Can't remember but it came to about 2kw)inside a 99-00 Rodeo. He was doing low 150s on occasion but then he switched to one Crossfire 1000D and one W7 in a Eclipse. Still hitting low 150s. And if you don't believe me go to the MECA site and look up the VA Record Holder for CS2.

150 is possible but it will take work to get it. So many possible outcomes to consider. I did a 140 with my 12" HC in a 2.5 cu ft box tuned to 38hz and 750 watts rms(American Pro Amp) using a 1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue as the vehicle. Changed to a 3.5 cu ft box tuned to 47hz and a Tsunami GXA 1000D and went up to 140.8(Sucks ***)

Going to use a smaller car, with 1500wtts and my 2.5 cu ft box, hopefully my findings are better.

Toolboxes are cute........its fun to pull 147's at the headrest on them. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

yeah i love the audio toolbox. that funky purple color is wang too! i know i was happy with my 148.4 with my L5 15" and 750rms on the dash. anywho, anything is possible. i myself am working my *** off to try and pull 150 with 1 12" and 2500 watt burps.
