Can I hit 150 db with an HC RE?

very possible....i managed a 149 with 2kw...in a tiny sq enclosure(2.5@30hz)...with an adequate enclosure and some trial and error...it is possible....but don't expect it on your first time out;)

With that sub and power....I don't think so. On a good day, with the sun shining bright, birds chirping, and the perfect set up....mid 140's

Hey, Chris, was that with your A?

I dunno, anything is possible. Im pulling 147.3 with 1kw in a sealed box. So I think anything is possible. Just pickup some SPL dust and get urself that 150! My expectations are to break 155 this season.

XXX's are more likely to get loud and you will have greater ease to hit 150 than with a HC. Anything is possible as long as you put your mind to it.

nope....HC15 with 2 strapped crossfires....in that little teenie weenie carpeted enclosure i have;)

shiit...vic pulled a 148 with an old school HC and a jbl1200.1....and when he swapped in the 12" SE's and 2kw....150's....in basically a SQ enclosure...with a 60A alty and a voltage drop down to the 11's....

really it's just learning the car....once you got that down....anything you put into it will have good results

with patience...yes...with knowledge...yes. It will take tons of time...and prolly, i doubt you'll be able to do it anytime soon. honestly...hours upon hours of research/planning...then building...and re-building...and re-building. So, it's a possibility...but not very achievable in near future w/ ur situation. peace

the XXX is much more capable of hitting 150db's in a single sub setup, but I would recommend more than 1200watts, atleast a good 1800-2000watts, and a huge *** ported box. It took me a little work to break 150db's w/my XXX 15". I got a bigger box and a more powerfull amp, and it got a whole lot louder.

Dude seriously,I hate you. The box doesnt necessarily have to be a big ol ported box(which leads me to doubt that 154 of yours even more) and even with 2.5kw its still gonna be a *****. Time, effort, and money(hah) all equal up to a 150+ setup.

Who's linX did you meter on?

The box doesn't necessarly have be huge, and then even bigger to get louder. The larger the box the less power you need, I think we all know this. But if you give a sub like 1500w in a 5cu' box, and you give it 1500w in a 10cu' the chances of you blowing the driver just got a whole lot higher. I have foud out that the less power you use, the larger the enclosure you need and visa versa. Look at some of the comp vehicles...take Scottie Johnson; do you think he has a 67.5cu'? NO. He probably only has like 2.5-3cu' per driver. When I first got my Brahma I went up 2dB by making my box 1cu' smaller and adding more port area.
