Can any sub be downfiring? If not, how can u tell if one can? Would it make any difference in the sound?

Was curious to see if mine could JL audio 10tw3 d4

Anything can be downfiring if you point the magnet upwards and the cone down

Just cause I maybe though that it could damage the coils somehow! Does it make any change in the sound?

The only reason it would change the sound has to do with which way it is aligned. Being downfiring is nothing special

Most modern car audio drivers are fine to down-fire (or up fire) -- some older designs with very compliance suspensions would permanently sag over time. That is pretty uncommon these days.

I used to have some audiomobile subs that liked to sag but like Jake said they are from years ago where SQ subs had very soft suspensions and low wattage.
