Hey there, guys. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif Haven't logged on for a long while. I'm building my '94 Celica and I'm aiming for good power, good looks, and good sound. The first two are done, so I'm left with the last one. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/redface.gif.62fdbfe1a101588a808c4cff71bcb942.gif I'm not looking for brain aneurism-inducing bass, but I like bass to be louder and cleaner than the norm. I'm studying sound engineering in college and I've been making electronic music as a hobby since 2002 so I have pretty polished ears. I prefer solid, tight, siny bass instead of the usual boomy, loose, hollow-at-the-top bass ordinary people around here like. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif
To give you an idea of my level of satisfaction and expectations of bass, I had a couple of 2009 Kicker CompVR 12" DVC subs and even one satisfied me. I moved it with a Crystal CAM 300.2 amp. It was solid and clean enough for my liking. It was enough to make my ears pretty itchy inside if I cranked it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif My hearing, even for being an Army helicopter mechanic/crewchief from 2000-2006, is top notch. I get tested yearly at the VA hospital.
I always test subs with My All from Mariah Carey since that's the type of bass that I like the most. I listen mostly to reggae roots (Steel Pulse, Black Uhuru), dancehall (Sean Paul, Beenie Man), and electronic music...mostly trance (Above & Beyond, Super 8 & Tab). I do like a lot of The Crystal Method's tracks, especially the older ones. They have a combo of these two items on eBay for $549 + shipping. I did read that this subwoofer cannot be sealed and it needs to be ported. Bummer. All input is welcome. Sorry for the long thread. I like to be detailed so people can know enough about my inquiries and share more. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif
