Can an Amp blow from a bad ground?

Well I was driving along today, went around a corner and my bass stopped.

I took the deck out right away so my amps went off.

I pulled over and checked all my wires, everything seemed cool.

So I put my deck in and I hear zapping and poping and I turn around and see blue fire at my chassis ground and the ground on my amp. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Now my amp is blown, and the ground was loose. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

This was the only wire I forgot to check because I never had a problem with it before. I guess from me packing my car full of stuff and driving across the country, it probably slowly loosened the ground somehow.

Now my Zx has a few blown transistors. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Is there anyway to check which transistors work and which don't so I can buy the parts before bringing it into a electronics shop?

yes, use a dmm. usually the part will need to be removed from the board. and why are you buying the parts for repair? I would send it somewhere else if he cant get the parts.

Yes if you have a loose ground while the amp is running, then the current that would normally try to go down the ground wire will go down whatever else is grounded. Usually that would be the ring of the RCAs for your amp input. Not good for the headunit, hopefully the manufacturer has decent protection on the outputs.
