Can 8in subs really bang and thump?

But I heard two 6.5s Tangs in a tiny little .7cube vented box that were only being fed 120WRMS that shocked hell out of me, so , yes , the right two 8s in the right box would prolly be decent

I have two 6.5" tangs on only 50 watts a piece and holy FUCK they sound nice and they're loud for what they are. My favorite part is how they play below 24 hz with ease.

I totally know about the cone surface area of an 8 vs a 15...it cant comparet then again im not trying to fill the jeep with monster bass like I did with the tahoe. Just didnt wanna spend 300 bucks on a pair of 8's and then how much ever on a box to be like WTF this is weak, ya know? Oh and Bettr...you have a pm sir.

2 8's = ~1 12". 8's can put in some work if you port them and get some nice ones (DD 1508, sundown sa-8, the dd 2508 just came out too). Don't expect them to be too crazy but they can definitely get pretty loud if you know what you are doing.

my sa8 gets pretty loud... and its a tough little bass turd.... I have it in 1.2 cu ft on 1k daily although some on here refuse to believe it.

yea they can be loud.... the american bass 6.5's do to. a guy that competes in our local org had 12 american bass 6.5s and was doin a 147db onmusic. i dunno if he has a car audio profile or not. but i think he posted youtube vids... try searching american bass 6.5's. it will be in a ford escort

Short answer is yes. The right 8's can get retarded for what they are. Put a pair of SA8's v.2's in ~1.2cf @ 32 on ~ 1kw and watch people's faces when you tell them it's 8's.

Yeah, when put this way it isn't that impressive. I've seen 1 10" do roughly those numbers in a decent daily box.

but seriously... if you're just looking for a nice upgrade from a factory set up, and arent expecting too much from them, a pair of 8s in the proper enclosure can give you decent output.

Thanks for all the help and i want to keep this thread going. Im still up in the air...one 10in sub...or two 8's. I have kinda steered away from the shallow mount idea i had at first. Have yet to find anyone say they are actually "good" and last with modest power.
