Camp T-Rex SM 1-2; part 3

i broke 7 bits on my last build.

also, go with the 2 1/2" screws, they are a little thicker and the heads tend to break less.

also, what's your total height and did you do anything to offset the slope towards the front of the van?

Yup the drivers are atomic APX's, amps are up in the air, kind of. I have some ideas kicking around.

BJ - Nice man. But Ill be down in GA for the most part with the van I think. But hopefully Ill see you at some 3x's. What setup are you gonna use? Same car?

I did some work tonite, but Im so tired from being up for like the last 36 hours straight. Im gonna go to bed and wake up early and get a long day of work in.
Yeah still gonna use the Durango. Basically I'm putting in all of Manny's old stuff.

4 MT 15's

4 XA3000's

4 Kinetik 2400's

Let me know what competitions you will be at, db drag right? I would love to see it in person and will be there also for street A hopefully. You will probably be gone by the time I get there, but Im going to Tech in a couple years after I transfer from GSU on the RETP.

I picked up some 3" screws today, so well see how it goes. If they don't work better, Ill just go real slow with the 2.5"

I tried my best to offset the slope. Its not 100% perfect, but close enough. I had to do all the measuring and building by myself, so I tried the best I could on that part.

I had to go back a few points and redo parts of the frame to fix it.

Height is somewhere close to 40"

Nice fit for 2 18"s.

Although I may have to offset the subs some, because I think Im going to make the floor thicker now. Maybe 5-6 layers.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif

And maybe another one on the roof and sides.

BTW that frame looked nice and strong.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

2x4s sideways = cant go wrong

I might be crazy but your still going to have a lot of flexin with the setup your doin. You need better bracing.

Jus Playin. I think its safe to say that there wont be any flexin. Lookin good soo far and awaiting the finish. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsup.gif.3287b36ca96645a13a43aff531f37f02.gif

Squeak - Cool Ill let you know, but hopefully Ill finish it up over break and have it mostly ready for SBN. Ill be at tech for probably 3 more years.

Kicker wire from ccity. Accomidations = ftw!

BJ you doing 3-4 with all 4, or 1-2 with 2 backups?

All layers on every wall are finally in and done!

Next is the corners. I think Im going to layer that with 1/4 mdf or plywood to get it perfectly flush. I cant use 3/4 there.

After that, comes making the adjustable back sliding wall.

First layer of one corner piece in.

Im glad I made the first layer on the sides slightly taller than the other two.

The piece slides right down (well hammered down anyway) the channel to make a very tight and strong fit.

Ill get another layer in, and then eventually everything will be kitty haired for a smooth and better fit.

I know its plywood and not mdf, but there are 2x4 braces every six inches. Its very very strong.

More screws, more glue, and whatever you do...do not offset the subs. If you build up your floor more just notch out for the subs so that they can still fit on top of each other.
