Calling B.S. on all these HO alternators

the thing i don't like about "idle" claims is i wouldn't have brought my mechman or any ho alt if i knew they rated them at 800 rpms. my car idles at 600 and my stock gives about 30 more amps than my mechman at idle. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif Annoying haveing to hold the gas just to listen to music at a decent volume at stop.
this post = stupidity

if your car is running at 600 doesnt mean your alt is running at 600 rpm...you have a ration between crank size and alt pulley size for example most vehicles have at least a 2:1 ratio so if your car idles at 600 the alt is turning at 1200 rpm

noob...figure out your ratio then you can complain about your alt

also just up your idle 600 is hella low

hey rob if your still here what ENGINE rpm do you rate yours at? 800 like mechman? Does your company "fix" other company's alts to make them put out more at idle like say 600.
I wont rate alternators by engine RPM, there are WAY too many variances... We rate them for actual alternator RPM...

Speaking of which, 800 Engine RPM on most vehicles is just outright laughable.. For example, most every single GM vehicle post '99 idles at 550-575 engine RPM, which is just a bit shy of 800... Most import cars, 650-700 tops and unlike GM & Ford trucks/SUV's they dont have 7.25" crank pulleys either to help with alternator RPM..

That is why we build things the way we do... Forget the top end numbers, they are absolutely, totally, utterly worthless unless your running a car through the lanes for 30 seconds... Its all about the bottom end with alternators...

apprently your ****ing stupid dumbass Been there done that with the ratio. Why the hekk you think i out ENGINE rpms stupid **** b/c it's 2400 ALT rpm:verymad:

i hate it when people assume you don't know what your talknig about
you just thought that engine rpm and alt rpm were the same you idiot...get real...on your dyno sheet that is alt rpms then you gotta factor in your ratio... your an idiot if you think your mechman does 60 at idle and stock does 90 at idle... you obviously dont know whats going on thats why i said all that

and since when do companies rate their alts at a single rpm number? you r an idiot they have ratings all through the ALT rpm range.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/furious.gif.fc81ca146dbff91fede3ed290dbc4f4c.gif

?You really are dumb aren't you show me where I said they are the same? Apprantely you can't read, I'll make it real clear for you in Barney terms...I have a 3:1 ratio which means the according to the Dyno sheet @ 1800 ALT rpms which converts to 600 ENGINE rpms i get only 68 when my car requires 90 minimum at idle.

wow didn't know that *sarcasm* the point of this is i require more @ idle than my ho alt can give without a system on at all. It doesn't matter if it puts out power at higher ranges when it doesn't meet the MINIMUM requirement.

whatever no point on continuing this conversation, i'm done. If your mechman is doing good, well that's great but don't make it seem like they are great for everyone and all their needs.

okay man i understand that now... you should either look into a smaller pulley or up your rpms a little i upped mine to 800-900 and that solved a lot of my problems...also i will look at my dyno sheet but i am pretty sure that at 1800 alt rpms my 200a mechman does more than 90 amps...when did you buy your alt? mine is just a 200a slim fit and so far i really like it
