Calling B.S. on all these HO alternators

I had a leece in my van years ago and it rocked. It was huge and did 90% power at idle. I also do not believe any of the goofy claims that they make and the alternator guy I know thinks its funny too. He can make a nice 200 amp out of a large case gm but no bigger than that.
If mechman has a custom case I can see a bigger better custom stator going in it but if I ever needed a big one again leece it is it is worth the 1k with out a doubt. MGeletrical FTW. DBeletrical FTL.

Well, if rob can squeeze good numbers from the smaller alternators I wonder what he could do with the real alternators, unless the parts in the big ones just aren't up to current technology like the little ones he is upgrading, which would be sad, but may be the case. I am waiting to hear from him, as I would like to run 2 of the BIG case alts built by him to run in my S-10 for the 2010 season. I need big alts for what I am planning on doing, and I don't mind the custom fab work to make them fit and spin.

So I'm trying to understand what happened............ A few days later

DB-R called out pretty much all of the alt companies saying he didn't believe the output numbers.

People came to defend their purchases

He said he wouldn't believe it until he saw it for himself

One alt company owner came and defended his product because it was being mentioned in the thread.

Alt company owner provided some vids and answered questions as asked

A day or so later without actually testing, DB-R is now going to recommend Alt company owner's alts and is going to pick up two for himself having not tested them as he wanted to...

Alt company owner got a few more calls (including one from me) about this and that, and a few more orders.

I applaud Robbie going above and beyond to stand behind his products as well as DB-R for bringing attention to the matter, but that still doesn't say that other alts are just garbage. Maybe those owners are not interested in telling people what they do.

My main issues are performance and fit. If the alt fits as it should and performs as it should, the customer service doesn't need to be that great.

Robbie came on here since I think he was the only alt MFG told about this thread.

He asserted Chris, and told him to buy one. Or anyone for that matter who is close to stop by his shop.

No other alt company decided to comment.

Robbie provided good info.

Made some more business.

And Chris doesn't seem so skeptical about them.

End/

I highly doubt any other alternator company would come on here to poast. Irragi and Nate from EA has long since abandoned poasting on here. And the other manufacturers just turn a blind eye to this sort of thing.

Why is that? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif I would expect them to be able to stand behind their product and try to get more customers.
Its simply easier for them to keep quiet. Car audio isn't their only market for their alternators. They peddle them to car racers, hot rodders, police and state agencies and marine applications. So in all honesty, they really don't give a shit about a car audio forum questioning their products.

I am talking big case double rotor/stator Leece Neville or Lexidyne alternators for my comp vehicle, not big case GM. Unless Rob can confirm that those will do the numbers I need. I am keeping the setup private until 2010 comp season. I know he must be really busy because he has not gotten back with me but no big deal, it can wait a couple months because I have to go pickup the truck in Sept before I can even start the build.

I think the other guys are busy peddling alts elsewhere. Not saying they cannot do what Rob can, but after seeing what I saw in the good videos and reading Rob's posts I am less skeptical yes. Buy from whoever you want to buy, just remember, if something sounds too good to be true for the $$$ you pay then it might be. Do your research before buying. That is what I am doing //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
