What should I use for rear fill in my 4 door Ford Explorer? Ill be running Alpine SPX17Pros up front active and a 13W6v2 off the new HD JL 800/5 controlled by a CDA 9887. Should I just throw a higher end 5x7 or 6.5 coax in the factory location? Vehicle will be deadened with 120-150 cu ft.

Also what songs are used in a SQ competion. Id like to put together a good mix?

If anyone has a competion SQ setup in a SUV Im curious what you're running!

Thanks!

If you are going to rely get into SQ than NO REAR FILL I use to use rears and all but now I just have my fronts and it sounds GREAT.

Some songs that are can you feel the love tonight Elton John, circle of life, faithfully by Journey, heaven Bryan Adams, Drops of Jupiter by Train, Hotel California live by the eagles, I'm feeling good Michael Buble and a few others. aim me for a whole list of SQ songs reimermatt

Thanks man. Im really thinking about trying to get into a sq comp sometime this year. What is a typical day like at a competion?

Do you think Id do well with this setup?

Head: Alpine 9887

Amp: JL Audio HD 800/5

Comps: Alpine SPX17Pros (Active)

Sub: JL Audio 13W6v2 (sealed at 1.6 cu ft)

Deadening: 160 cu ft. (havent decide on brand) any suggestions?

If anyone has any suggestions or think I should change anything, PLEASE chime in. I haven't bought anything yet. Waiting to get all research and opinions before I commit.

Thanks guys! I value all opinions and suggestions!

it's not about what you have (shouldn't be at least)...

you should attend a competition first, demo the competitors cars, and see who wins.

Doesn't rear fill imply something is missing? What exactly are you "filling in"? And yes I know of and understand (sort of) the purpose of > 30ms ambient delay, I just don't see the merit if you set the car up optimally.

I've read the RAAMmat reveiws seems people like that too. I get a deal on Stinger Roadkill Expert product from the shop I used to work at but its still kind of expensive. The bulk is like 9 18'' x 36'' sheets and I get that for 140 but the RAAMmat is 15'' x 50'' and is $109 a roll!!! I've used the roadkill before and liked it its just expensive. I might try out the RAAM product. Ill check out the Damplifier stuff too? What's this I hear forum members get a deal with secondskin?!?

I've never built a sq vehicle before so I was wondering what experienced competitors would use in the rear doors of my suv? I didn't know you guys didn't run rears. Im trying to learn from their expertise. All the stereos I built were for young kids just wanting a setup louder than their friends or a simple sub/amp. There were a lot of high spl setups but never any high dollar time consuming setups. I recently got the itch again after being away from the industry for 4 years and want to finally do something in my personal vehicle.

No rear fill is pretty much a standard, although I wouldn't mind experimenting with another midbass speaker in the rears to add some more kick. It'll be tough to win with a 3way setup vs. a 4way setup as well. The Raammat worked great for me but I also added a layer of ensolite over everything.

As was said, try it without the rear fill, most of the time the stage improves.

Most organizations and events have their own discs for judging. Tune the vehicle right, and the music choice shouldn't matter //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
