CAF Stacked Subwoofer Box Build for the Jeep!

I started working on the subwoofer box for the Rockford Fosgate T1 10 Slim Subwoofer. Box will be a ported layered stack style box. This will allow me to capture the shape of the location the box will fit into while incorporating the port geometry.

Once I had my overall shape I had to come up with the shape for the back side of the box near the window, I also had to add the port geometry:



After I copied that layer a few times I made a transition layer which adds a port brace and also caps off the bottom edge of the larger overall shape.

Next I capped off the back of the box.



Then I added the front baffle, I used a rabbeting bit to add a small flush sink surface into the baffle.

What's the difference between a stacked style sub enclosure vs. a reg one that would def be curved/complexed to match the interior shape?

Yeah, basically it's easier to follow the contour of the vehicle. It would be a nightmare using MDF any other way. Usually, people just make a wood baffle and then fiberglass the rest, but this looks nice.

oh, nvm. same build as seen in one of his videos. I was at work and the stupid filter on the interwebz there blocks many pictures, esp ones from photobucket. Makes me wonder how much MDF he throws away!!

SMD's skeleton box uses a similar practice of routering out specific shapes, glue and clamping.
