cab as back of box?

Well air would come out of that box like a mofo, bass would sux, you would probally hear wissling, and its just not the right way to make a box. Do you have room for that xtra .75"?

well it is in a single cab silverado, and i was to put 3 12 ed k's, without that .75" the biggest box i can make it 2.83 cu. ft. with that i can make it like 3.2 or something with would be a lot better for those subs. i knew a guy who had it and it wasn't bad, is there a way that i could seal around it?

I seriously doubt that those subs (3) would be able to function properly in that small space. Im about to put my 15K in a 3cuft sealed or 3.5cuft ported, and thats just one. I think you should only use the one sub, not all three.

Can we get some help here...

even 2 k's would be able to work with the 2.83 u could give em. u might be able to use a thinner sheet of mdf on the back and just secure it to the cab to eliminate flexing. somone back me up on this, seems logical but ive never tried it so i dunno if it would work.

i knew a guy who had it with no back, with 4 jl w0 10's. it sounded pretty good, i really want to go with 3 12 k's though. I have 2 Mtx 8000's right now in a 2.2 cu. ft but i want something a lot louder, 3.2 cu. ft and some poly-fill i think would be ok, but i still need that space .75" isn't much but it makes a big difference.

if ur set on using 3 subs you could go with 10's. but if u used 1/2" or even 1/4" mdf just for the back you could gain the needed airspace, and remember ed's r small box subs so i think if u gave em 1 cuft a peice you'd be fine.

i have an Autotek XS 1500.1 (1500 @ 1 ohm, 900 @ 2 ohm) What i meant to ask is would the 3 10 k'd be louder than 2 12 k's. 3 10's would prob be at 1.34 ohm, which is around 400-450 (give or take) each to the 10's and the 12's either 1 ohm or 2 ohm, prob 2 because they are only 350 rms. that would give the 12's 400 each.

jus by pure stats the 3 10's should be louder because of more cone area etc etc. but then again it all depends on the install and the extra room the 12's would have may increase thier output while certainly making them sound better. if u want more low end and sq go for the 12 if ur lookin for more output then go with the 10's even though sq won't completely dissappear.
