CA&E 10 best subs

anyone know how the rsd compare to type r and ts-w3004spl.is it as loud as type r?
I doubt anyone has even heard 1 on this forum in a car application. From whats been said about them, they should sound much better than the woofers mentioned, but ive yet to hear them. Someone off sb forums liked it better than his idmax, and arc flatline.

first off, when CA&E reviews a sub.. they acutally hook it up in an application and spend weeks listening to it rating it on more than just one category.. its overall performance (thus the "point system"). as far as CA&E is concerned a sub can hit 140 by itself on the Meter, but if the sound quality isnt that good, the points go down. thats why the list looks so ****ed up. haha

now imo i dont like JL w3's, 6's, or 7's. they have absoulutly no cooling system incorperated with the driver itself. this leads to nothing but burnt coils and useless speakers. i dont know about you guys, but i play my music loud, and hard, and i dont want to buy subs every 6 months.

of course, the best sub on that list has to be the Cerwin-Vega Stroker pro 15. im gettin four of these powered by two zapco (also imo, the best amps money can buy) C2k 4kw amps. That's the way to go.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

i bet shaq was happy to read that about cm lol. some mags rate rather weird like in a really old (1990ish) ca&e test of big amps a kenwood 959 (might have been a 1059 lol) was considered a good value (better than average anyway) when it only did 60% of advertised power and it was a couple hundred watts below others in the test while not being close to the cheapest in the test...mind you back then there were no crossovers or eqs in amps so i would think power was your value....

Now that is just a stupid response.

//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/bsflag.gif.21f42eccd34b7d1eb1608fb1b59b69c3.gif oh and for the cooling systems on the JL's. why? they dont need it, the w6v2 is one of the best sounding woofers out there. none of the ones you mentioned, or any JL woofer for that matter have problems with heat.

oh, and you arent getting two 4kw's, not even one. you arent even getting a 9.0 so shut up.

LMAO I was gonna post that! I usually try to be nice to people, but wow, that's just one retarded response intended to look like he knows what he's talking about. JL's subwoofers have 'absolutely no cooling system' eh? lol Right.
i think he was refering to its not an overkill system. they dont have problems so why fix it?

45 pages of arguing about whether or not that CM is the "best" sub out right now.

I've "heard" good things about their LS series of subwoofers. Based on the Illusion Audio inverted magnet design....

CM is also the maker of the $259,000 electrostat setup (not a typo).

Anyways.....imperical data from magazines I enjoy. Opinion based (add an "i" before the "a" in that word) information....not so much.

I was looking at pickin up an LS an forking out the cash, but i only has 12mm of x-max when other subs I was looking at had 15-20mm like the Assassin I ended up with or about 1/8th the price. What makes them so special unless youreally need a shallow mount 15"? They are not even THAT shallow... I would probably place my money on the TC sounds shallows over them when they come out. Am I way off base here?

Is this the top 10 woofers out of 11 that they test or what? LOL.

Now that is just a stupid response.

I must admit, my first response was much nicer; then I stopped and thought "If he is unwilling to put any forethought into his own posts, why should I reply with forethought present in my own?"

After reading their "review" of the SI Magnum, I could only wish to acquire the weed that they've been smoking.
lol ever notice except for the w7 when it first came out very rarely do the magizines ever rave about anything that wins in comps? usually its a good right up on a first product from a small company then its all tests on who gets 2 - 3 pages of advertising with lol

I haven't gotten the chance to read all this...but the reason DD got rated so low is the idiots put it in the wrong ported box....They put it in a 1.5 cuft box they claimed slot ported so the box should've been about a 2cuft box including port...they used an 18in square port...which is 36 total....if it was the maximum box which I doubt it was it needed 24.....if it was only 1.5 including port they would've needed 18 total not square...I can't speak for the other speakers...because I'm not familiar with their specs...So if they were this far off on the test box for DD ...who's to say the other may be as well...The box the described would make a DD sound like crap...I'm really suprised it rated as well as it did...Put them in the right box for he right application the subs are unbeatable...oh their box would've been tuned good for SPL...if it had the right box placement....
