Bxi2607 keeps going into protect

bumping this for some advice...I've been running just the 4 ohm MJ for a while now, 800 watts, and it still goes into protect after 5-30 mins of play usually on full volume...don't know what to do, I've upgraded to a yellowtop under the hood and ran 0 gauge to the amp instead of 4 gauge...amp internals look good, idk what to do, voltage is stable usually above 13, never below 12.5

I know this isn't your problem from what you described but I thought I'd share me similar experience:

in high school I had 2 sucky crunch fatboys don't remember the amp but during certain songs it would go into protect mode because the tinsels were getting soo close together they were sparking together and if I shut the amp off it worked fine when restarted until it hit a certain fq then it would stop. probably would have never figured it out but 1 time it wouldn't restart and the tinsels of one of the subs stuck together. I pulled them apart and took some heatshrink tubing around them and heated it to stay on

try to turn down the gain on the amp untill the subs get mild.

then go for a ride and crank the same tunes at the save vol # on head unit.

and tell me if it still goes into protect.

it wont sound the same but bear with it just for the sake of the test

this will realy help in trouble shooting your problem.

next test would be turn up your gains on both amps

and use lower vol # on head unit

so you would set your gains with a lower vol # on head unit,

to get the same cranking sound level as you had already.

and that would be your new max vol setting on head unit.

you know, I actually can hear a little bit of tinsel slap from that sub at certain frequencies on full power, I'll check that for sure and see if it looks like they've been sparking in there possibly. Thanks for the advice, never would have thought of that.

I'll try both of these, once i finish talking to Mike at Maxxsonics because he got back to me and is now trying to help me troubleshoot as well

thanks for the help people

boxdgm has a good point. one of my girls friends had a friend (i know 3rd generation dgaf lol)

hook up her shit, and needless to say dumbass only hooked up one vc, set the gain to max, and her shit stopped playing completey a month later. i opend the sub boxes, each sub had shorted tinsels on the vc's that were wired up. burnt them bad enough to leave burn marks on the spider. well anyways, i was trying to see if the subs even worked with the tinsels together, and i shorted it on accident, and i heard the amp cut off. so yes, that may be your problem...

well...just took the sub out and it looks brand new on the underside, no evidence of sparking or burning or anything of the sort whatsoever. I'll still put some extra insulation over the tinsels though just in case

just playin around free airing that thing...and all i can say is wow //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wow.gif.23d729408e9177caa2a0ed6a2ba6588e.gif...that thing gets some serious excursion going...i mean...it says 15mm xmax...I didn't push it to its limits and I got that thing moving easily more than 3cm peak to peak, I'd say 5 at least, maybe 6 , hasn't bottomed out yet and I don't plan on pushin it any farther lol...anyway back on topic

I couldn't get it to make the same rattling noise I could sometimes hear from the box when I was freeairing it and i had it excurding quite a bit farther than usual, so I think maybe my wires from the terminal cup to the sub are too long and are causing it? idk...still have no idea whats wrong with the amp

I've eliminated low preouts (gains are now at less than 1/4 with 6v preouts), and I've eliminated the remote wire possibly losing voltage, I'm out of ideas, so unless someone has one I guess this amp will be up for sale or something...sucks cuz it seems like if the protection circuit was removed it'd work absolutely perfectly...any last suggestions to try? I know there must be some amplifier experts on here somewhere
