need someone knowledgeable.....

Subsonic filter....

Lowpass filter....

Voltage.....

subsonic what is it for and what does it do?, how do i set it...my box is tuned to 33hz....

Lowpass filter what do i put this on?....what do i set it for my box,

voltage....goes 9v to 0.2v WTF?!?! what does that mean...

Bass boost, 0-18db...help please.....

i know theres alot of posts for these amps but none of them were really able to help me with anything please help anyone who can!!!!

Mike

subsonic- it's like a highpass filter.... but for the looow frequencies and is used on ported boxes so that the sub does not play a freq that is lower than what the box is tuned for.... because if it plays a tune lower than it's tuning the box loses the control over the sub (atleast that is what i have understood from reading various post of the site and the little bit i have researched)

so i assume that you play a test tone @33hz(possibly 32hz) cd at a low volume level(as to not damage the sub) and adjust this dial until the sub no longer plays the sound

lowpass- not sure what freq you should set this too... maybe 80-90hz? do the same and play a test tone till the sub no longer plays the sound... it filters out the freq above what you have it set at so that it does not play say a 500hz tone

voltage... this is the gain dial... and i'm sure you can find info about that one on this site //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

bass boost... everyone says to keep it at zero.... to prevent loosing the sub that you have.... so i would do the same...

yo man...i have had alot of success with not using the bass boost controller at all...just turn your bass on ur amp uplike the amp like 3/4 of the way thats what i have as far as the other stuff i dont know off the top of my head but ill go look and post later...i used that setting for competition and hit 149.0 daily driver setup... but i got obviously got louder when i changed the bandwidth and put the seats down and all that crap

Subsonic filter... set to 1/2 octave below the tuning frequency of a ported box. The equation to figure out what frequency to set it to is: frequency-(frequency/4). In your case, set it to approx 25 Hz. Just so you know, a filter is not a wall for the frequencies, all filters have an associated slope (i.e. 18dB/octave), therefore you will still hear the lower frequencies (if you can really hear below 25 Hz), contrary to what Crashking said.

Lowpass filter... set to whatever sounds best, usually around 60-80Hz is where the sub frequencies will start becoming directional, which is not what you want.

Voltage... again, use the gain setting tutorial.

Bass boost... don't touch it (as in leave it at 0dB)

i'm still learning.... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif lol

atleast you answered his questions... i've asked on here before and got cricket noises for answers so i had to guess at what it did.... and how to set it

so if i build my box for my se10 according to re's specs for the SQ box which is tuned for 30hz i should set my subsonic to 22.5hz? is this correct? also how will i be able to know that it is set at 22.5hz? when i install the amp and sub i won't have an ocilliscope or a multimeter... but i will have access to a ocilliscope once i go back to school

I would just guess, but you can always make a 23 Hz test tone and use a multimeter too.
yeah i don't like guessing.... cause if i guess on the settings then i can probably guess that my wallet is going to get lighter because of the new sub i will need to buy...

lol, I hear ya. Just make a tone at that frequency and then play it and use a DMM to measure the voltage. Turn up the subsonic filter until the voltage drops slightly.
yeah sounds good. might have to go buy one... friend had one(so did I!)... but the fuse went out in it so i'll just keep the boomin down till i can get to school and use dmm and oscilliscope their

got the test tones already.... i like being prepared too //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

i have the same amp. i dont know much about the sub sonic. that was new to me since i use sealed boxes. i like SQ. my sub sonic is as low as it can go since i dont need it. the best way to set the input is to turn the bass boost down low pas on mine is 80hz and ajust the input inbetween the top and 9v. your HU is probably 4.5 volt outputs so it will probably be close to half way. it will sound louder if you set the gain at .2v but i have heard of a hifonics amps blowing from that.

Or if you just set your gain by not guessing. Read the gain setting tutorial stickied in the amplifier section of the board.
