bx1500d question

well the amp will be pushin 4 type r 12's in a sealed box...will this be enuff for them? it will be wired at 1 ohm.........i plan on maybe gettin a yellow top but i really want to know my amp rating for ym stock alt

that would power 4 type R's very nicely.

 
I have a 2000 Chevy S-10 Blazer with a new Yellow top under the hood and Stock Alt.

I have a simmilar amp at idle speed it makes my lights dim on long bass beats and the volt meter drops well below 14 Vs. When I'm at crusing speed its not as bad, but still noticable....

I would look into Upgrading the Big 3 and maybe a H.O. Alt... I know thats what I need to do....

 
well what kinda amp do u have? i really do not want to upgrade nethin in my electical system. the battery i dont mind, but i do not want to get another alt. do u know how many amp the stock alt is? for the bx1500d will i need a 120 amp fuse? how would a alpine mrd m1000 do the 4 type r's? thanx

 
most stock amps are 100 amps... Try upgrading the wiring from the alternator to your battery to 4 gauge wire form the standard 8 guage.....

And are you running them parrallel? Are you getting dual 4 ohm or dual 2 ohm? there is alot to think about man

 
well i dont know what ohm subs im gettin yet. if i go wit the alpine mrd m1000 ill be runnin them at 2 ohms, if i go wit the bx1500d ill be runnin them at 1 ohm. will i be able to hear a huge difference between these two setups?

I run Hifonics amps too... I have several; a Zeus, 2 Centurions, a few 1500Ds, etc... Not all are in the truck right now, but I know how amps draw...

Its not the amps, it the power they put out or the current it takes to make the power they put out...

I doesn't matter if you go with:

Amp A. 1500 Watts

Amp B. 1500 Watts

Amp C. 1500 Watts

Amp D. 1500 Watts

Its still 1500 Watts...

I guess if you wanted to get into the whole Class A vs D vs. Whatever, it'd matter a bit, but lets not go there... You want to make 1500Watts...

If you want to put out, big clean power, you have to put in Big clean power...

All I can recomend it to get the amp, beat it for a week or so see how it does...

If you have issues, upgrade the battey, then the Big 3, if that doesn't help maybe get a 1 Farad or bigger cap, if that doesn't help all thats left is an alt...
