Buzzing in sub...

I have a sony sa-wms23 powered subwoofer, the problem with it (besides it being sony) is it makes a low buzzing noise for about 3 seconds then it will sound normal for about 3 seconds then continually go back and forth between the two doing this. What could be the cause of this? How would I go about solving this noise?

Sounds like some hum is getting into the amp, might be AC hum or something.

Nope, nothing wrong with the "sub". How would I fix the AC hum? Isnt their a filter of some sort?

Well, probably some capacitors on the 120v power supply would help, but you'd have to take the amp apart and see. What about ferrite chokes on the power cable? That might work...

I think ill try a ferrite noise supressor on the power line, any other ideas on something I could try if that doesnt work?

call the power company? or is this not a humming problem...

It is some of a buzz than a hum. I dont see how the power company would be involved with the noise, care to explain?

Maybe your amp is set on Full or HP filter. Set it to LP if you are powering subs. I had this problem also until i started messing around with the amp.

When my cell phone is around my Logitech z-680's, they buzz and hum and crackle. When I move it 5 feet away from the amp, it goes away. just a thought
