Buying used batteries..Do you?

3 things to make sure of when buying used batteries?

I think they are:

Age

Resting V~

Physical condition - includes how you think the battery was treated.

Seems like you could hide facts about all these things; since you can't be sure how long they have been sitting, what abuse the batteries have taken, and how well they were taken care of.

Do you normally go with what you know, and buy a quality battery brand new?

I buy used sometimes but it's a crap shoot. I need to start load testing. Just checking resting voltage doesn't do much because the guy can charge it up before you meet/they take pictures

All I buy are used batteries. I have a good battery guy though. He load test every battery he sells right in front of you. My front g31 is a deka and rest at 12.8, the three in the rear are g31 telecom batteries and rest at 13.1
