Buying refurbished speakers, what do you think?

Project: F350 begins...
Im throwing together a budget home stereo for parties, and i was looking at sony SS-B1000 bookshelf speakers along with Sony SS-F5000 floorstanding speakers. I figure this would have some good output for a party, whereas the bookshelves can double as my desktop speakers when im not using the stereo elsewhere.

Anyways, the cheapest place to get these speakers is on sonystyle.com, but they only have refurbished B1000's left.

Should i wait for them to get more new ones in stock, or will saving the $10 be worth the refurbished product? I've never bought refurbished before...

I don't think it'll matter much...

When it comes to speakers, I don't think it should matter much.

I don't believe soft parts are re-useable. So it's probably an old blown woofer that they reconed. You should be good.

I try to stray away from electronic boards that are refurbished. (I.E. Computers, processors, amps, printers, etc.) Since they have a lot of parts that are actually degradable, it effects performance and I've found they have a higher chance of crashing. I could be completely wrong, but that's my experience with refurbished electronics. My first PC was refurbed, and it died after a few months. My TiVo is refurbed, and it's a POS. It randomly freezes, it'll say it's recording a show, but it isn't... and when you click on it in the list of recorded programs it goes to a black screen, then asks if you want to save or delete it (like it ended.)

I also have had a few refurbed printers that were just piles of junk after like a month of use.

But, like I said...

The only thing that can go wrong with a speaker is the soft parts. I don't think motors can go bad unless... they were de-magnetized?
