send it to db-r he'll fix it and btw jl will fix it but will charge $50 to re serial it (manditory on amps w/o serial)

Not to highjack but I did a system for a kid and he gave me his old amp (broken) wonder if it could be fixed.

He said it was playing fine and when he turned it up loud all the fuses popped...

I tested the subs b4 I took apart his old system... he had 4 10"s wired to 1ohm... thats why he popped his sh!t I dont know gets muffed up when you do that but can it be fixed

just some of the electrical equipment u will need is a power supply, dmm, oscilloscope, resistance, etc. You will also need to figure out how the parts that are bad, work..to either order the same..or duplicates that are close enough..

You should leave amp repair to people that know what they are doing. If you try repairing it yourself, it will probably blow up again. Contact Amp Repair Center. They've done quite a few JL's, even a few for me. http://www.amprepaircenter.com

I have a DMM and an O-scope For a power supply, i have a car battery charger, would that work?

Last time i contacted db-r he said hes not taking in any amps right now, which was like a week or so ago. Said he was just doing certain ones or something i dont remember exactly

I think Ive decided to learn everything I can about amps to fix it myself. I'm sure I can learn the information required to fix the amp and the cool 500 bucks id be throwing away are a good incentive.

I'll probably post a thread about this learning process, any and all information is appreciated.

I guess this is why JL amps are so expensive. Yikes i've seen airplanes with less components.
