buttkicker amp got owned

x2... u know there gonna ****. Just like the B.A.S.S subs! lol

granted i have now been lied to by the company...regardless....they're not called buttkicker because they think the amp is sweet. they're called buttkicker because the amp normally powers "low frequency vibrator" for sore lack of a better term. essentially, you stick this low frequency thing inside the cushion of your couch. it will then shake the couch on low bass scenes to make it seem as you are actually in the action. its like the rumble feature on PS and Nintendo controllers....except this one is accoustically tuned. it actually works quite well. regardless....i got jipped on the amp.

hmmmm I have yet to order an amp.... and I was this close to ordering a buttkicker today. But I really dont want anything that doesnt do at least 1500 watts at 4 ohms... and my gut says not even the behringer does 1500 (ep2500) and the plate amps have been tested to do 700-800 watts so I might just go plate amp now....

LOL I just read and I was right! My gut was right I am gonna go with the ed audio 1300 watt plate amp now, no ifs.....

(edit) thought the l/r test was the mono tests, looks very promising at 4 ohms mono the 2500 behringer. Looks like I found my anew amp then //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Even if the buttkicker kicks down 500w @ 4 ohms, 750w @ 2 ohms clean,

is $250 a good price considering it has RCA input, crossovers, class D, fanless design.

Bash 500w is normally $228 {in sale right now for $159} and is 500W @ 4ohms,

not rated for 2 ohms.

Dayton 500w is $298 for 500W @ 4 ohms, not rated for 2 ohms.

Dayton 1000w is $398 for 1000w @ 4 ohms, not rated for 2 ohms.

These Bash - Dayton amps, who knows what they really do vs. specs.

I usually like to play it safe and assume they do less than advertised

if you were to run a stress test like the buttkicker went through.

Behringer EP2500, $350 street price, proven workhorse in the DIY sub world.

Tested recently {same test as the buttkicker} at 2000w @ 4 ohms, but

expect 1400w - 1600w under low voltage conditions. The amp will run into

thermal protect in minutes though. $100 more than buttkicker, but you have

fans, it's full range, not just a sub amp, may need a signal booster if you use

RCA to XLR input, no low pass crossover, but has more power than the buttkicker.

I guess the moral of the story is. In the $250 price range it's 'iffy' if you want

higher power. In the $350 - 400 price range you can feel comfortable that you

can drive the typical 1kw woofer. But if you have a 2kw-3kw woofer {or array of

cheaper woofers}, you will need to get into the $500 - $800 price range for a nice

amp.. and of course you can always go higher.. heh

The term is 'tactile transducer,' and the amp isn't intended to power speakers. It's intended to power 'bass shakers,' which you mount to objects like your couch/sofa/listening chair.

If you can detect 1% THD from the amp at 15hz through your lazy boy by the seat of your pants, you have a golden ***.

This is like frowning upon the siren in your car alarm for it's poor frequency response and transition characteristics.

butnot just a sub amp, may need a signal booster if you use

RCA to XLR input, no low pass crossover,
ok where can I get rca to xlr? and do I need a booster for my denon? i think it outputs 2 volts. If so what booster (cheap but good lol)

Just build a 1/4 inch to RCA adapter because most amps will have a 1/4 inch input...

If they don't just build a RCA to XLR adapter...
