burning coil smell

Does it smell like a cheese almost? Or could that be my box. It's made of MDF...

I was bumpin to Tha Joker and then I started smelling it.

My amp is tuned to 550 RMS and I'm runnin a 10W7 right now.

Should I spray some cologne in the port to not have that smell anymore?

I don't think it'd smell like cheese... Maybe you stepped in something and dragged it onto your floor mats...

Turn your music down and see if it goes away or if something sounds like crap?

Why would your box be taking that much heat? Not sure if there is something I'm missing here.

everything works fine, I don't think its the floormats. I smelled teh port when it was running and it smelling like an old cheese. almost like easy cheese

...Did you buy anything off eBay?

Would be a pretty funny joke to rube cheese spray on their products before sending them out I guess.

Does it smell when its not playing or only when its hitting hard?

It just started smelling today. I just went in there. The car has been off for about an hour and its still there. I smelled inside the port and it is deffinatly the port. It's a homemade box but it IS PAINTED inside. I'm guessing that's what it is...

I sprayed some A&F Fierce in there and it's good now.

burning coils have a very distinctive smell! you cant describe it, maybe almost like burning hair... something along thoes lines

coils smell like hot metal. if u have every been around welding it smells kinda like that. or if u get them hot enough to smoke them it kinda smells like a bbq lol they all kinda have diff smells.

I heard inverting the sub will make the smell go away and then you can spray cologne directly into the pole hole and it will always smell good......
