Bunch of 8's VS One big SPL sub...

My brother is re-doing his system in his Tahoe again. He's torn between Eight 8" Subs (1508's or 8W7's) or one big sub 18" Cascade Omega. This is for loud daily beating. He's very pleased with his Focal mids and highs. So only the sub stage is being changed.

The 18" Omega is obviously the economical choice here.

The setup with the most cone DISPLACEMENT will have the greater output, theoretically

The throw on the 8's, no matter what he picks will be more mechanically limited than the 18" sub.

I'd go with the omega. I know 8w7's are nice and all but they still can't compare to the potential of an 18 with a high roll surround - even though the Omega T/s aren't posted on their website.

Plus, cost factor, it's stupid to spend $500+ for 2 8w7's (let alone $2,000+ for 8 8w7's) when you can spend $464+shipping and get an Omega 18.

But don't put a Maelstrom-X out of the question either - amazing potential there.

but it he has 4-5k+rms for 8 1508's in an 8 cubes box tuned to 40hz, then do that shit hands down
