Building tower speakers

Well, for lack of a better Christmas idea, I've decided to build my dad some tower speakers to go with his new TV and reciever.

Here's a few drivers I've been looking at for the project:

Subwoofers:

Tang Band W8-1363

Tang Band W8-740C

Dayton DC-200

Dayton QT210

Questions: All the drivers I want to use are 8 ohms. However, some of the subwoofer choices are 4 ohms. Do I need to match the impedance?

Midrange:

Dayton Reference 8"

Dayton Reference 7"

Tweeter:

Dayton DC28FS-8

Vifa D27TG

Crossover:

Dayton XO3W

Any other suggestions?

Haha, they may sound ok at best

all passive Xovers are based on impedance, and all speakers impedances are different, impedance changes with frequency

you'll find with those xovers you'll have dull spots and what not

go to a DIY forum and they can prolly design some xovers there for you for 10-15 bucks

Much, much better idea man

Honestly, my dad isn't a huge home audiophile. He wants something that'll sound 'good'. I'll be off at college, so I won't be bugged by dull spots. Maybe if I get bored enough I can do some xovers. Point being, I'm fine with them sounding okay at best. He's thrilled with his pair of Infinity bookshelf speakers. Anything would be a step up from those.

So how bout them drivers. Any ideas?
