Building a Ported box, need help tuning it

Hey man, I have 6 sony xplods 12" 1200 watt They sound the best in a sealed box, not to small tho (truck box), mid to big sealed box (car box), sounds the best. PORTED is not as good of bass and not as Loud.

good size sealed box and your sonys will pound.

ok, im already in the middle of building a ported tho, cut out and everything, i just need to know how to tune it, if it dont sound good then ill go with a decent size sealed bos, its goin in the back of a acura legend so it should hopefull fit

Its hard to tell you how to cut it without the dimensions of the area your putting it in or what you already have cut. But you should be able to figure it out, make the port 50 square inches of area like 5 by 10 or 50 divided by the height of the port, 18 inches long and make sure you still have 4.5 feet after you subtract the total volume that the port has taken up. ( with the 50in^2 port , 18.5 inches long thats about .6 ft. So your box will actually be 5.1 cubic feet with the port inside of that making it 4.5 net for the subs to play in.

Max ratings are useless especially sony ones. 1200 would pop that sub even if it was only taking it for 2 seconds. RMS is the only thing to compare by. and the 1000watt sony does about 140x2 I had one. So you have 300 watts RMS if you ever want to upgrade know that a real 600-1000watt RMS mono amp will be much more power.
