budget speaker

Hey guys,

I was wondering if MB quart would be agood brand of budget speakers to go with. My budget is prob around $80 a pair, but if that cant get anything decent then i may be able to go higher.

And whats the difference between coaxials and components? Is it that coaxials need a separate amp to power them to their potential and components come with that amplifier/box thing? Im not sure what that thing is, but i would appreciate it if somone could help me out.

And should i be lookin at coaxials or components?

The "box thing" that comes with component sets is a passive crossover. It is a much better crossover network than the one that comes with most coaxials. A few high-quality coaxial sets actually come with their own passive crossovers.

Either way, coaxials and components should be amplified to get the most out of them.

I don't have any experience with MB Quart speakers, but I could definitely recommend the new Pioneer line as well as the older REV series for a good budget speaker around that price range, both coaxial and component.

alright cool thanks man...yea i just actaully found the speaker thread and read through the stickies so now i understand alot more about coaxials vs components.

anyone else have any other opinions/experiences using different speakers or what to use/not use? I will probably be powering them with a hifonics 4 channel amp, although im not sure how hard it would be to install speakers/amp..i know how to install a sub/amp, which is easier?
