Budget Amps, do they worth the money?

I'm facing a long travel on my wife's car. It had the stock Volvo system. As I wanted MP3 and DVD playback, I have intalled a new JVC HU. The new HU sound bad from the stock speakers (they sounded decent from the stock unit).

Next move was getting some component speakers (DLS). I'm still not happy. I'm used to my own car system (3way active with a 10sub).

The logical step is investing in a good 4ch amp and a sub, but I'm planning vacations and short of cash.

Plan "B" is using an 8 RF sub that I have at home and get a budget amp.

I have been looking at a Lanzar 414 (75x4) at a fair price. Do they do a decent job? Could they be matched with a 5V HU?

Thanks!!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif

they have some great deals on refurbs, and they make rated power. As far as i know, Lanzars are way overated. Id check out the profile amps first. I use them myself and have never had a problem.

Can you define what you mean by a fair price?

If you're needing a decent 4ch and don't mind buying used there are several for sale here in the classifieds including a 50w X 4 Kenwood that I am trying to sell.

Otherwise I'll just say that Lanzar isn't my first (or second or third) choice for a budget amp.

Have a look here and scroll down to the 440SX. 50w X 4 for $47+shipping. Tough to beat for the money.

If you need a cheap amp, I have a jenson 2 channel 300 one channel doesnt work, I used one side on a 12w6v2 for a few days till I got my amp and it powered it pretty good. If you needed a amp for the 8. I will let you have it for like $10 plus shipping.

You and I are on the same wavelength, jgarcia! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

We essentially told him the same thing except I linked to them so he wouldn't have to look it up himself.

As with anything else, you generally get what you pay for.

Whats your budget?

I agree that a 4 channel amp and a sub would be the way to go, assuming that the front two channels will power the front stage and the rear two channels will be bridged to power the sub.

They are right about Lanzar being overrated, but is only a little. I had mine benchtested and it is supposed to do 1200rms but only does 1000rms. So keep that in mine. I love mine though. If you go lanzar stay away from the vibe series. Had bad luck with that amp. I would also consider profile, like the one guy said. Not bad for a budget amp.

Thanks for your replies. I have fewer choices because I live in Argentina. electronics are expensive here. For example, a budget amp sells for 200 dolars and more.
