Hey guys. Getting some new speakers soon which take 120w rms. My current amp only puts out 70@4ohm.
I have somewhat of a tight budget though, and after poking about I see very few amps that put out 100 watts or more at 4ohms.
So my first question is, are the PA BAMF amps anygood? Ive seen a few good comments on them. Reading a few efficiency comments in another thread has me wondering though. Given the '1600w' BAMF amp is supposed to push 150x4 with 2x25 fuses - does that sound right for an AB? How are people calculating efficiency?
It has a 97db signal to noise with 1%thd at RMS. That doesnt seem too bad, considering I wont be running it at full RMS output anyway. The reason Im asking about this amp is because I get them very cheap, so if itll be sufficient then thatd be wonderful til I feel an upgrade necessary later if ever.
Also, wouldnt it be possible to just get a decent say HiFonics 2ch amp, and wire the speakers for 2ohm? The right front/rear speakers together for 2ohm, and the same with the left? That would only be 2 channels then, not all 4, but music sources are all stereo anyway. Might this be a better choice?
Let me know If Ive made anything unclear. Thanks once more CA.
