Budget 10" Sub???

Okay, I am looking for a low budget (under 100 bucks shipped) 10" sub. Sound quality is much more important than loud. I listen to everything from Classical to Rap. I will be running the sub off of an old school Soundstream Reference 405s. The sub channel was only rated at 200 watts on these amps. I need a 2 Ohm DVC sub to get the load down to 1 Ohm. The three I have found so far that seem to fit the bill are the RE Audio RE Series, Diamond D1, and the Cerwin Veaga HED series. Just wondering if anyone has any experience with any of these. Of course if you think you know of a better option I would like to hear about it as well. Thanks for any thoughts here guys.

Thanks, checking it out now. It may be a performer but it is one ugly sub. That cone just looks f'ed up.

No 2Ohm DVC on the Memphis.

I know the RE stuff used to get a lot of talk around here. Then they went up on prices to grow the business and suddenly they were as cursed as JL.

54 bucks shipped on Egay for the RE 10. Looks like a solid entry level sub, and easy on my pocket. Good deal?

The Reference series are great amps but they don't like 1ohm mono. I know the manual says it's ok but the amp gets crazy hot. I have a friend who just popped his 1000s by running it at 1ohm mono. (it was a .8ohm load)

I currently use a Reference 700s at a 1.6ohm mono load. It still gets very hot when pushed even a little. If I where you I would get a 4ohm DVC sub. I would be willing to bet your amp will put out full power at 2 ohms. I have seen some of these old Soundstreams put out rated power at 4 ohm. If you need to just bump the gain a bit.

Remember the stated power of these amps is at 12volts. At 14.4 volts your amp will be putting out about 25%-30% over rated power. Your amp should be putting out around 300 watts at 2 ohms. (good clean power)

Yeah, your right. It will do full power at 2 Ohms. I was looking at high current mode where it would need a 1 omh load. That makes things eaiser.

Thanks for pointing that out.
