BTL - Cool or P chamfer???

So I went through the elaboration of the two and am still confused. I will be running a DD Z1 on 2 - 12" BTL's......

I will be using them for daily street beating, and competing on the weekends. I will not be changing anything around (besides port frequency)....

Options that I have chosen thus far:

3rd Magnet

HiXmCoil

So, do I want the cooling or P chamfer???

P Chamfer: This is a chamfer on the end of the pole, it helps to bring the air down around inside of the motor and helps cool the coil better. It also helps relieve the pressure underneath the dustcap. We recommend at the bare minimum to get this option if you choose this series of woofers.

Cooling: Self explanatory, the cooling channels are machined into the inside of the sub to help cool the coil FAR better. But there are some things that you sacrifice. There is less metal inside of the motor so it is a little weaker. If you are looking for a fart/burp only scenario for SPL we suggest that you do NOT get this option. Stick with only the P chamfer. Now if you are looking for a daily sub to beat on and you have 2000+ watts the BTL series is for you.

i think you supplied yourself the material to answer your own question. it just comes down to your personal need. do you want to sacrifice that little bit of spl with cooling? Are you gonna pound your subs hard daily? If yes get cooling. If its just going to be used lightly everyday and comps on weekend, get P chamfer. Hope this helped.

I realize the Chamfer comes on the cooling......but it also says that the subs are weaker with the Cooling.

With the setup I have now, I do a 144.7 on the TL on music......which I listen to it at that volume EVERYDAY............

zx12, I think you have it backwards.......P chamfer - hard daily, Cooling - soft.

The last sentence in that is what I will be doing....."Now if you are looking for a daily sub to beat on and you have 2000+ watts the BTL series is for you." I just don't know which cooling option to run if I will be doing this.........

no i have it right. the cooling includes the p chamfer. it is meant for the best cooling they can supply. you lose some spl but you gain a ton of cooling so you can pound hard daily without over heating. if u just need it for comps, just get the p chamfer so you dont lose that spl but you wont be able to bump as hard daily without fearing of overheating.

No, the motors are weaker because there is less material inside, they do not fart/burp/peak as hard with cooling....it does not mean the sub is "weaker".

Unless you are doing STRICTLY fart burp/spl competition i highly recommend that you do full cooling for any sort of daily/musical application.
