BTL 15 vs 18

Will an 18 in the correct size ported box put out much more low frequency output (@35hz or less) that a 15 or would it be pretty close? Would it even be worth switching my 15 for an 18?

It would be louder, without a doubt. How much louder?

3db would sound like "doubling", which I know from experience is a huge difference.

Would it really gain 3 db though? I highly doubt it.

I am sure there are people on the forums that have gone from 15's to 18's, they can chime in as they will be more knowledgeable.

the sub size doesnt really effect the freq output its the tuning of the box an 18 will get louder of course though

if you want lows FI reccomends tuning to 33hz

Correct. Lower frequencies may be louder though due to obviously, the bigger cone area. The reason why everyone thinks 18's have "more lows" than say 10's, is because of the lower FS of bigger subs in general. EX. The BL 10 has an FS of 40hz, while the 18 of 33hz. I don't see why the BTL would be any different.

actually im running the same amp sub combo as you but mines a 18 i have mine tuned to 33hz it loves the lows and still gets loud
