Broken trunk open button

Well, for some odd reason the trunk release button up front is broken. Worked great last night when I got my gear bag out of the trunk, and now it won't work. The trunk still works with the key and with the remote, but not with the button in the car. The vehicle is a 1997 Infiniti I30. Any idea on how to fix this? I'm trying to save a trip to the shop.

problem is the local junk yards have almost nothing foreign, everything is domestic trucks.

Pop the button out and see if anything looks ****ed up...

when you press the button, do you hear the latch trying to open? or is it just silence?

nothing but silence

pop it out. check it with a meter. could be grounding out, or a bad switch, shoud be able to get one from the dealer.

Well, as I get to thinking about it, I think I'll just leave it. If anyone breaks into my car and manages to disable the alarm it'll take em longer to get into the trunk.
