Bridging Profile amp: Shouldnt going fro 80w to 255 w be a noticable difference?

I have a 4 channel Profile AP1040 amp running my rainbow fronts and Alpine type R rears. The profile AP1040 is 80w x 4 @ 4 ohm. Sounds pretty good and supposedly delivers rated power. However, I wanted to get a bit more clean power to my front Rainbow comps so I bridged the amp. Supposedly it delivers 255w x 2 @ 4 ohms when bridged.

Long story short...I dont notice a real big difference in sound. It IS a bit cleaner and sounds a bit better..but I expected a larger, more noticable improvment. I also figured I'd have to lower the gains but I still have the gains set at about 3/4.

Can it be that Profile delivers rated power under normal conditions but bridged it doesnt?

Yeah, one of the reasons I'm bringing this up. I've been told however that you cant have too much power...provided you set the gains low. See my other question on the gains. Long story short...I should have been seeing at least 32 volts and I only measured about 18.

Found the issue. I needed all 4 inputs hooked up. I had to split the signal and put an input to all 4 of them. Now its working....

I had been told earlier that i only needed to use 2 inputs. Not the case...
