bridging and ohm help

So I am obviously new here but am not new to car stereos. I searched for about 10 minutes but did not find anything helpful. I just blew at the same time my Orion 275SX amps. Long story short I am looking at getting another set of Orions but I don't remember how the whole bridging thing works, how to wire it all and what kind of RMS power I will be getting at what ohm and so on. I initially had one Orion running two door components and 6x9's in the rear. I had the other running two Boston Acoustic 12" subs. I think I had the subs wired so that they were seeing 300 watts each but that does not make much sense. It's been a while since I have done any stereos and ten years since I did this setup. I am basically looking for a writeup or good website that explains all this to me again. I will get it quickly I just am getting myself confused.

Thanks

Strange that they would blow at the same time. Before you do the new installation you should take some time to verify that everythings working right - no blown fuses - no corroded connections - battery and alternator still healthy etc.

Your amps were 75x2 at 4 ohms stereo, 150x2 at 2 ohms stereo, and 300x1 bridged at 4 ohms mono.

You must have had the full range amp running at two ohms stereo for 75w per speaker, but the best you could have done with your subs was 2 ohms stereo (if they are 2 ohm subs, or dvc 4's) for 150w a piece. If you have basic 4 ohm subs they were only getting 75w a piece.

Seems like a good opportunity to me for you to replace your sub amp with something that matches the power/impedance of your subs better, but exactly what that would be depends on what subs you have.

I agree. What is even stranger is that I have a third amp MTX that was fine and still running. The Orions both blew in the same place of the board. And neither the main fuse nor the two fuse going directly into the Orions blew. What do you mean by matching an amp to my subs? Why would it matter as long as they get clean power?

Clean power is great, but PLENTY of clean power is better //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

If they're 300w subs you're not going to get the most out of them until you can get them something close to 300w.
