I would like to give more power to my subwoofer.
I've got an Alpine 12" SWS-1222 dual 4 ohm sub in a sealed box that's being powered right now by a Fosgate P3002 two channel amp. The rated output specs for the Fosgate at 4 ohms is 75X2. The rated RMS for the Alpine is 300, peak is 900W.
I already have an Alpine Expert MRV F505 4 channel that I was going to sell, but I was thinking on taking the Fosgate amp off of my 12" and bridging the Alpine to run it, instead. The rated specs for bridging the Alpine are 200WX2 RMS @4 ohms (12V). Because this is one of the older "Made in Japan" Alpine amps and is underrated in the specs, I'd imagine it would be giving closer to probably 250X2 RMS to my sub.
Would bridging the 505 to the sub be a bad idea, or should I just consider selling it and buying a Mono sub amp like the Alpine 605 that does 300RMS X1 and 4 ohms (12V)?
You guys have been really helpful since I've signed on here, and I really appreciate all of your input! Thanks!
