Im going to be hooking up 2 4ohm subs in a downfire box. If I buy a 2 channel amp and bridge it at 4 ohms and the subs are wired for 2 ohms what will happen?

it will be unstable. and the amp can go bad on you.

you could wire it up to 8 amp, but that might be weaker than stereo...

It depends on the amp.

Some 2-channel amplifiers are stable to 2ohms bridged.

Though now I see that by "bridge it at 4ohms but my subs are 2ohms" you probably mean that the amplifier is only stable to 4ohms bridged....in which case you'll either fry the amp or cause the protection circuitry to kick on.

Ok, so I need a 1 ch 2 ohm satble amp. If I get a 2 channel amp, how can I wire it to 2 ohms per channel to the box since th esubs will be wired that way?

re wire the box. so each sub is on a chan.

Ok. So if I do that than I would need 2 cups right?

or drill a small hole enough for wire to pass through and reseal it.

Thanx for your help. So its ok for me to just run the wires from the subs out of the box through a hole? Will it hold if its sealed good? Can you tell me how to wire each sub in 4 and 2 ohms?

actually no. dont do that. you have 4 ohm woofers. id actually get a mono 2 ohm stable amp..
