bridged amps, went into protect

my friend has 4 dvc4 ohm subs and he has 2 amps. we wired all of the subs in parallel and then wired the amps in parallel. we used a link to connect the amps and they went into protect. anyone know why

power acoustik ov1-4000d...they are meant to be linked...its not that...i just cant figure out what i did wrong...all subs were in parallel and both amps were connected to one + and one - that split to all of the subs...there was only 1 + and 1 - going into the box

Thats because you are running a 1 ohm signal into a staped amp. Since you have the amp straped and both subs in parallel, you will see 1ohm at the subs but the amp are seeing .5ohm and thats why it is in pretect.

did you read the manual on your amp? is that how they said to do it?

i have unhooked all of the wires except power, ground and turn on wire and it is still in protect...fixable?
