hi all

i was really interested in knowing HOW DO U BREAK IN A WOOFER and do any one of u have those LOW FREQUENCY TONES so i could download that from u cause i couldn't find it on the net or anywhere else. Plz help...

Whats is a test CD (with pink noise and warble tones) & where can i get it from, is it available on the internet for DL ?

thanx.

generally you don't need to "break in" a subwoofer. u can play it hard as soon as you get it.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

If it's right out of the box, I would initially play it at a moderate level to get everything moving, however downloading a "breaking in" with a test tone is a bit redundant. Sound waves are sound waves; just crank up the tunes and let it do its job. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

First off, use the search button on the top of the page and do a search on it... there are SEVERAL threads that get into this in great detail..

That said, you run the sub in free-air with just enough power to move the cone to just UNDER it's max throw.. the best way to do that is with a test tone run for several hours.. WinISD has a tone generator in it, if you can get your computer sound card to a home stereo (and can wire the subs to 8 ohm for proper load on the home stereo) you can do it that way (that's how I did it).. There is another app that will 'write' a tone to file, then you can burn the .wma file to disk and play that (if your cd player will handle it, or try converting the .wma file to a real CD track with some software).. If you can't get either of those to work, you can see about buying a CD with test tones from Best Buy, Circuit City, or just about any audio shop I'd guess, or do a search online and see if you can find one..

You don't "have" to break in subs, but you should play at lower volumes for a week or two to loosen up the parts.. problem is most people want to thump it NOW and that can cause issues.. not on all woofers either, but stiffer woofers could have issues..

If anything is unclear or you have other questions, PLEASE search the forum first..
