Breaking In Q...(

Half gain on the amp, drive around for a week, crank it up, pound away. Better safe than sorry.

I've been braking in my new HU, I have it attached to my comp's PSU, and it's been running straight for 5 hours now at low volume. I was taught just about anything electronic and variable (amps, subs, HUs, normal speakers) need to be broken in.

Gain should be set once when you first install it, and then never touch it again. No setting it half way to "break in the sub" or anything else. Set it and forget it.

Using that same logic, you'd need to "break in" a newly built house's electrical system, you'd need to "break in" your new car's electrical system, you'd need to "break in" your new computer or your new TV or your new Playstation 2, etc etc.

no... but seriously... im also getting that fuzzy feeling

breaking in my subs... except ive fallen victim to the

not setting it or forgetting it camp... i figured that the

settings for my old subs were about right to take it

easy on these for a week or so... and then i would scale

it up to where it should be... i want to turn it up now

though... this is almost as bad as waiting for the subs

to arrive...

Which "settings" are we talking about?

I never really break any of my subs in. I figure if you buy it with a warrenty. Its covered. I have tried the break in period and have not noticed a diffrence on daily driving situations. I have heard about spl comps that do break there stuff on as what squeak said because there burping them and need that extra tlc to get them going. But I dont see many of us pushing speakers to that level. Might be trying to but we aint going to lol.
