Breaking in a sub

From experience, how long would you guys say is good to break a sub in?? Ive finally wired up my amp and got my Alpine Type R 12 wired up. Ive set the gains at 450wrms, and the sub can take 600. Is this an ok amount of power to break it in?

No sub needs a break in period, unless you in the 2k watt range

From my own research, in most cases a break in is not necessary

never broke a sub in

Ive used Infinity, Eclipse, Cerwin vega, TC sounds, DD, Audiomobile etc

never fried a sub and never broke one in

1. How old is the sub? Alpine just switched over to their new subs, and if you have the new one like I do it's actually 1,000 watts RMS not 600.

2. You don't need to break in subs, they will "break-in" on their own and you won't blow it if the gain is set right.

Pfft, breaking in woofers is overrated. As long as you don't throw twice the rated power and play way below your tuning frequency, you are fine.

Give it full power just take it easy with the volume for a few days is what I do...

I never push my subs that hard, so I don't really worry about it.

it depends on what it is, DD's and aq's I'll break in.

If I spend over $400 on a midbass driver or tweeter I'll break it in as well.
