in my comp vr's, i had a memo about a break in period for the voice coils, if i hook everything up and then let me them play through my amp, will that be fine, or what is that break in period for??

Some people say break in isn't necessary, but I do it because...well, it can't hurt anything to break it in. You can either play some test tones fro about 6-8 hours or just listen to regular music for 6-8 hours at moderate levels, just to get the sub moving.

I've always done test tones for about 3 hours

By then its nice and warm.

NOrmay used WIN iSD running through a laptop to do it.

Just so i can set a signal sweep macro and it will do it without me sitting there

Suspension will loosen up whether you listen to it or play tones for however long, and even so it's not likely it will sound any different. Either way, I'd rather listen to music than play tones for however long.

I think we just take that extra precaustionary step...just to ease our minds.

at the shop we do installs all the time and never break them in, but when its my own car I always have b-in period

So either way it wont hurt it, I will probably take the step of listening to moderate tones for a lil while to get the coils loosend up

my "break-in" procedure:

1. open the box

2. take the sub out

3. push the cone all the way down

4. push the cone all the way up

5. crank up da music!

thats my way of breaking in

that guy was the shiznik, too bad he changed his shoes everyday. other than that he was awesum. i always liked the train thing. lol

to break it in i just turned my amp gains down and just played it like that for a week. then i turned up the gains.
