sup guys...i just got 2 type r 1022's n it sounds like shit! one of the sub is rattling from inside the sub. does this mean my sub is a defect or blown? shit is pissing me off....

i just went into crutchfield.com's tech support section n i read that if the sub is rattling from itself, it needs time to break in for order for it to smooth out? does this sound right to u guys?? i went through like 3 different subs n i never had this problem b4....

btw anyone know warranty procedure for alpine products??

crutchfield warranties all their shit, where did u get the sub from? that reason sounds retarded IMO.

i got it at downtown los angeles audio district....they told me i can only go through alpine to get warranty. ****!! this sux big time.

im not sure if its scratchin sound but as far as i can tell, it sounds like something is lose in the sub.

If the sub has a vented pole, it could be that a screw or something went in there...

If anything has gotten down within between the coil and the wall of the magnet and scratched up the coating on the coil, your fuxored. Plus, if it rattles anyways, your fuxored.

Take it back, thats all there is to it. Alpine wont warranty shit for you, it has to be done by a dealer for them.

I had this happen to 2 of my subs...pretty much my fault on both...my box has a massive leak hole...but joe belmonte from elevation audio warranted both times without a problem..it had a rattling noise the first time the spider landing glue had came loose from the coil former...second time i believe the coil became loose....meaning i was heating up the sub so much to melt the glue on the coil! cuz my box was built sealed but had a leak hole so made it like a ported box tuned to 150 hz...but good luck getting it warranty because as far as i know that doesnt sound like a factory defect

the place where i got it said bring it in n they will send it to get it repaired but i think they r just trying to give me a run around. its a car audio wholesale place n shit. how do u check if the box has a leak?

feel around the edges while yo've got the woofergoin for any escaping air

Leaks in a box or around the edges of the sub can sound deceptively like a rattling sub, check for leaks!
