Brand New Soundstream Amp blowing fuses and going into protect mode???????

Hi all,
Just bought a Soundstream AR1.8000D Arachnid Series 8,000w Class D Monoblock Amplifier.

Everytime power is applied the amp turns on IN PROTECT MODE.

It makes a buzzing sound and then blows the fuse on the power wire.

I have tried to get it down to its bare state, so only just the power wires and remote.

It still does the same thing.

I connected an old audipipe amp I had, and this works fine with all of the same wires.

I am using 4AWG power cable and this is to power two Orion XTR 12" DVC Subs.

Any ideas on what could be the issue with the amp?
Return it, get a new one. It's shorting out somewhere...

Actually I saw 1800 and change at 1 ohm certified... still not bad for a under $200 amp... Hey!.. I watched a dyno for once...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wow.gif.23d729408e9177caa2a0ed6a2ba6588e.gif.. I just HAD to see it for myself... lol
Probably the best value out there right now....

It would be for two 600wrms subs both wired to 1 ohm, so I just need 1200wrms in total. From the link provided in a previous post on the thread at 1ohms this amp provides almost 2k rms so I thought it was more than adequate for the required use.
Which 600 watt subs are you using?.. some are better than others BTW... and you'll probably need most of 1500-1700 to get that 1200 to the subs once their all boxed up... so that amp probably is perfect for your use...

yeah fine power for that where did u get it? how long u had it? see if u can trade it for something else if so tell us the options.. for much over 1k u need to do big 3 wires under hood and run 2-0 ga wire..

if it works. Board looks overly cheap. quality control is not looking too good. Also 4 gauge power and ground is never a good thing. I'd save a few more for a belva
I like the Belva more too.... However I think the days of the Belva being sold are over. It's backordered on Sonic and Belva dropped all the class D amps off of their website.

wonder why they tested ok.. some still on ebay..
Probably whoever invested in creating the brand (Mr. Belva?) probably didn't make enough off it to continue with it. The amp I tested had a 2015 manufacture date... That's not good for the product to sit that long. I could be wrong, but usually when products disappear off the manufacturers site combined with the facebook site not being updated usually is a sign of a brand dying off.

It would be for two Orion XTR124D's.

Did some research before purchasing this combination and thought better getting an amp which over powers than to under power since manufacturer claims on the boxes don't seem to match the outputs.

Got them imported from a seller in the US has only been couple weeks.

So been looking at other options from sellers in the UK, however the selection isn't as extensive as what you get over in the US.

Totally aware of the big 3, was going to use welding cables but only after the initial setup is complete...

Looking at some different amps at the moment, however not sure on options.

Suggestions are welcome on what is suitable to comfortably push the two Orion XTR124D's.

Are you putting those in a prefab box or building/getting one built?.. a custom box is super important to good sound... ask anyone on this forum... it IS the thing most people overlook when starting out... it's time and money well spent getting one... I can't stress the importance enough... I'll bet those Orions will do fantastic in the proper enclosure... but in a prefab... meh... lol

The enclosure is the most important thing, u gotta have a good box builder because most shops that build so called custom boxes still don’t know what they are doing.

Designed the box using CAD/ Sketchup. Calcs were done for 35Hz.

2" wide port. Seperate chambers.

Professionally cut 18mm MDF. And then assembled using an adhesive we have in the UK called Evostik.

Thanks for the link, seems like over there in the US there is a much wider range of products with better value.

To import something to the UK you have to pay customs and taxes on top of the buying price.

The product in the link provided below looks like it is made in Germany so will probably have decent build quality like Rainbow.
