Brand New Soundstream Amp blowing fuses and going into protect mode???????

Hi all,

Just bought a Soundstream AR1.8000D Arachnid Series 8,000w Class D Monoblock Amplifier.

Everytime power is applied the amp turns on IN PROTECT MODE.

It makes a buzzing sound and then blows the fuse on the power wire.

I have tried to get it down to its bare state, so only just the power wires and remote.

It still does the same thing.

I connected an old audipipe amp I had, and this works fine with all of the same wires.

I am using 4AWG power cable and this is to power two Orion XTR 12" DVC Subs.

Any ideas on what could be the issue with the amp?

Wow... look at those prices... that's less than a 2K amp probably... $164.99 at walmart... for 4000 watts?

if it's able to be sent back... warranty it or return it... if not upgrade!

Return it. And you might want to upgrade from 4ga power/gnd wire if you are trying to power 4K rms ......
It would be for two 600wrms subs both wired to 1 ohm, so I just need 1200wrms in total. From the link provided in a previous post on the thread at 1ohms this amp provides almost 2k rms so I thought it was more than adequate for the required use.

What a joke...4 gauge power/ground for a 4k amp?!?! Prob doesn't even come close to 1/2 it's power. A TRUE 4k amp would have at least 1/0 outputs.

As others stated, return that amp right away. Sounds like an internal short somewhere.
You are right in the sense that it doesn't produce 4k rms, but it does come almost close to half which was enough for the setup it was intended for and fitted the bill lol.

Actually this amp produced 1931 watts RMS at 1ohms.
You can see the video here:

Actually I saw 1800 and change at 1 ohm certified... still not bad for a under $200 amp... Hey!.. I watched a dyno for once...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wow.gif.23d729408e9177caa2a0ed6a2ba6588e.gif.. I just HAD to see it for myself... lol

2k is still over 200 amps of current. I'd not trust 4ga for that myself ......
This.

An o/s MTX Thunder 2300 amp tested to do dam near 2k and uses 8 gauge power wire.

In the manual it states 2K RMS @ 1ohm... The website is F'd up for some reason and all the retail outlets copied that for ratings
