Brand Names

yea you know the sony explode amps 1,000 max then in fine print in the specs "100x2 rms " so yea thats what it actually does and most the time the max is when you have the perfect situation perfect box perfect conditions i think alot of companys rate there max of there amps at 17-20 volts which is really hard to obtain so yea the sony thing is a moot point
im from ny, i jsut got back from tx this past week visiting family, i notice u have memphis, thats all they had down there i never even heard of them, where i live... are they anygood?

yea i was told that... so bascially when shopping for subs & amps just see the RMS
Yes - as the Peak or Max wattage ratings are generally so far beyond what any given amp can produce in usable power and so far beyond the amount of wattage any speaker or sub could safely withstand (try putting an actual 1,500w into either of your Sonys and watch what happens shortly thereafter for example...)

Use the RMS ratings as your frame of reference as it is the only truly important figure in that aspect. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsup.gif.3287b36ca96645a13a43aff531f37f02.gif

u have any brand names in mind? i schould check out?
Well, as evidenced by my posting signature I'm more than a bit of a fan of Diamond Audio.

You could find M6mkII 10s or 12s or the same sizes in a D6 which is actually the same thing with a different model number used in good condition for $130/each or less if you shop carefully.

They'd certainly be a tremendous improvement over the Xplods you're running currently provided that you can power them properly.

well i did have memphis 15's yes they are good you can get them for around 110 before taxes usually that is the pr's thats what i had but the mojo's are bad as **** but run around 300-500 dollars i have memphis door speakers though m-class love them

Check the price on Cerwin Vega V-Max, might be in your price range.

Mixing driver brands and sizes is fine... yes, if all the drivers are the same model they will tend to emphasize peaks and give you a hair more SPL... but believe it or not, mixing subs can actually smooth out the response and sound better.
