the thicker the mdf the better right, i was thinking 1 inch mdf with a lot of layers of brown bread on the inside walls and i think it would be better to tune at 26 hz. this is going in a bed of a pickup, any websites showing some tips or installs with the subs in the bed

the resonant freq. of your vehicle..

thats for PURE SPL... it wont sound good, taht tuning is great for streeet bumpin...

consider an adjustable port... make it bigger, but facshion a plug to put in and pull to cahnge teh tuning...

well how do i find that out, ill prolly make 2 boxes with the same exterior measurments, one for db drag and one for daily....goes to show you answers just bring up more questions for me....what in your oponion would be the best for daily and what would be the best for draggin its prolly gonna go in a 2k silverado ext 4 door, or a 2k1 gmc sierra single cab, both will have a huge opening between the back of the seat and the front of the bed. some people just do a hole between the 2, but i decded it would be better to make the front of the box even with the back walla of the cab and th rest of it in the bed

well, the res. freq is fairly easy to determine..

play some tracks of sine waves, (single notes repeated) under say 80 hZ... all at the same volume,... jsut switch tracks,,, whichever is loudest, go with that freq. for your box...

use a decible meter, Radio Shack ones hould do fine....
